Tinsel Time!

This week for the Heart 2 Heart challenge, we had to complete a Tinsel Time color challenge. The challenge was to feature the colors Black, Lagoon, and Silver. This color combo immediately made me think of snowflakes. I started with a piece of the black snowflake Snowhaven paper. Then, I used the CTMH silver glitter paper and the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge to cut out a shimmering snowflake. The Lagoon cardstock was embossed on my Cuttlebug using a snowflake embossing folder. I added the sentiment at the bottom using silver embossing powder. I have a feeling this will be as close as I get to snowflakes this year in South Texas. :)

Favorite Holiday with CTMH Snowhaven

This week for the Heart 2 Heart challenge, we had to scrapbook our favorite holiday. Well of course, I picked Christmas. It has always been my favorite holiday, especially since we had children. Watching our kiddos get excited about all of the festivites that surrond the holiday season reminds us how grateful we are for our family. I created this layout for pictures of the upcoming Polar Express ride for our daughter.

You Mean The World To Me!

The challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart is to create a project with no embellishments. This was actually very difficult for me. I love to add bling to everything! I created this card using the Sunburst technique which allowed me add in lots of color (that kind of makes up for the lack of bling, right?). I used the Wanderful paper pack and loved how the globe from the Here We Go stamp set matched with the sentiment from the You Mean The World To Me stamp set.

I seriously thought this would be harder for me since I absolutely love stamping, but this layout came together so easily using the Skylark dimensional elements and matching paper pack. I love the finished product.

Masking Tape Technique & Color Challenge

This week over at Heart2Heart there is a color challenge using Desert Sand, Cranberry, Goldrush, and Lagoon. I have been wanting to try the masking tape technique for awhile now and thought this would be the perfect time. I really enjoyed the technique and I think the card turned out okay for my first try. Favorite Embellishment with CTMH Seaside

As I stated before, I have fallen in love with the Seaside paper pack. I have been creating with it all month. Today, I am going to share my all-time favorite embellishment, Natural Hemp. I love all kinds of embellishments, metal, buttons, ribbons, sequins, bling, but I must say that my go to embellishment is hemp. It literally goes with everything and when I have a spot that needs a little something extra, I know I can always add some hemp. I know it isn't in the current catalog, but I stocked up in advance so I should have enough to last until it come back (hopefully!). Seaside by CTMH featuring the Spray Mist Technique

I am seriously in love with the new Seaside paper pack!! I have created so many things already with it (more posts about that later). Today, I wanted to share with you my favorite technique (currently, anyway), Spray Mist. I used the White Daisy reinker and the CTMH spray pen along with a little water to create this fun splatter look. It was so easy added a lot to the layout. I have a really hard time embracing the blank space on my layouts so this simple technique helps to add a little something to that space. Thinking of You with CTMH Skylark

When I first saw the Spring/Summer 2014 Idea Book from Close To My Heart. I didn't really care for the Skylark paper. I'm nit sure why, I just didn't think it was my style. However, after seeing it in person and getting a chance to create with this paper pack, it has quickly become one of my favorite paper packs! It seems to be my go to paper pack whenever I need to create a project. I guess the colors just work for me. When I saw the sketch for this weeks challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, I immediately reached for the Skylark paper pack. Below is my creation and the sketch for this week. Red, White, & Blue!

Around our house, red, white, and blue are a constant color scheme. Our home is decorated with all things patriotic! We have always been a very patriotic family and are extremely proud to be part of this great nation. When our son told us he was going to be a Marine at the age of five, we were not surprised. We are incredibly proud of the wonderful young man he has become! We were able to visit him in Washington DC last summer where he is stationed at 8th and I, Marine Barracks. He is a ceremonial marcher and we really enjoyed getting to watch him march in the Friday night parade at the Barracks. These are a few pics of that night. I created this layout for the Heart 2 Heart challenge this month. I used the stitch guide to hand stitch the stars with Cranberry waxy flax. I also added the red shimmer trim for a little sparkle.

Banner Day!

The use of banners on cards and scrapbook layouts is very popular right now. I love how easy they are to create and the extra pop of color they add to a project. The challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart was to create a project with banners. I have been working on creating a club layout for May using the Jubilee paper pack so I thought I would combine the two and create one project. I really love the way it turned out and I am looking forward to taking the perfect pictures for it during summer break!

The sentiments on this stamp set seem to work perfectly for a bright, cheerful retirement card. I used the sketch for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. Retirement Card with CTMH Balloon Ride

It seems to be the year to retire at our campus. We have three amazing teachers that will be retiring this year. While we hate to see them leave, I know that they are looking forward to many new adventures in life. As I was busy in my scrap room creating this week, I thought I would work on a few retirement cards for all the upcoming retirement parties. They will definitely be missed. The Lorax

Our family just returned from a week in Florida. We spent three days visiting Disney World Parks and two days at Universal Studios parks. We had a great time! The girls loved meeting all the characters. When I saw the challenge this week at Heart 2 Heart challenges, I immediately picked the Sunset and Honey colors and thought of this photo. I used some leftovers from the Cloud Nine kit and added in some cardstock and the fun new White Marquee Enamel Shapes. I love the way it all came together!
