Ice Cream!

Who doesn't love ice cream on a hot summer day? The challenge over at Heart 2 Heart is to create artwork with ice cream. I used this fun die cut ice cream cone along with the Chantilly paper pack to create a fun birthday card. Kind of makes me want some ice cream!

A Chocolate Affair

When I first say the August Stamp of the Month, A Chocolate Affair, I loved it! I love chocolate and I love stamps, so combining the two and having a stamp about chocolate is just about perfect in my opinion. I created this card using the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge for this week. Below is the sketch for this week. We would love to have you play along with us.  I added a little texture to my cardstock by using the Cuttle Bug embossing folder. I love how it all came together.

Frosted Paper Pack - Sneak Peek

I absolutely love this weeks sketch at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. The sketch is below. We would love to have you play along with us this week! I used the new Frosted paper pack that will debut in the Fall/Winter 2013 Idea Book on Aug. 1st. The soft colors and lace look of the paper just have a nice calming effect. I used a punch to make the lace edge at the top. I added in a blue button with waxy flax and a few bling gems. I used the Unity and Thank You stamp sets to add the sentiment.

Sketch Challenge Card

As part of the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge design team, I have been creating artwork each week based on sketches designed by a couple of wonderfully creative ladies. I have really enjoyed being a part of this design team and it has been very motivating for me to get inky at least once a week and get a project done! I love all of the sketches and would love to have you play along with us! Below is a picture of the sketch and of the card I created for this week. I used the Florentine paper pack and the Treasure Life stamp set. I really like the colors in this paper pack.

Red, White, and Blues

Welcome to the Stampers with an Attitude Blog Hop!  The blogger in front of me is Kimberly Moss - www.kimspapercrafts.com.   The Stampers with an Attitude are excited to show you some Patriotic Art with an Attitude, so here we go.

I must say, I was so excited when I saw that we were doing patriotic art for the hop this month. I have so many pictures of our Marine son that I have been wanting to scrap and this was the perfect thing to get me started. I created a two page layout using red, white, and shades of blue card stock. I also used our two patriotic stamp sets, Courage and Home of the Brave, that are only available for the month of July. Check them out over at www.lhicks.ctmh.com The layout is from the Imagine how-to book. The pictures are from Family Day and Boot Camp graduation in San Diego, August 2012. It was a great trip and after not seeing our son for 13 weeks, I was so happy to be able to spend time with him and then to have him come home with us for 2 weeks. It is hard to believe that he has now been in the Marines for over a year. I love these stamp sets and can't wait to create layouts for our trip over the 4th of July to Washington DC where he is now stationed.

The next blogger on the hop is Becky McClain ~ www.beckysstudio-cards.blogspot.com Hop on over and check out her wonderful project!

Mix and Mingle

They are really challenging me this month over at the Heart 2 Heart blog. lol! This week's challenge was to mix and mingle stamp sets and paper packs. One of my favorite things about Close To My Heart is that everything matches and coordinates. So when I pull out a paper pack, the patterned paper and cardstock all go together so I can quickly create a card or layout. However, another great thing about the way everything coordinates with CTMH is that with the 42 exclusive colors, you can mix and match from different paper packs. Anyone who really knows me, knows this is a little out of my comfort zone! So this week I stepped out of what I am most comfortable with and dug through several paper packs to find just the right combination of papers to match some pictures a friend of mine had taken of our daughter at the pumpkin patch. I must admit, I absolutely love the way it came together. I used a layout design from the Imagine how-to book and paper from 4 different paper packs, Moonlight, Buzz and Bumble, Dreamin', and the new Huntington paper pack. I also used three different stamp sets, So Grateful, Timeless, and Cherished Flourishes. It is good to get out of your comfort zone sometimes, you never know what you will create!

Masking Technique

I have really been enjoying participating in the challenges over at the Heart 2 Heart Blog. The first challenge for July was to use the masking technique. This is a technique I had forgotten about lately. It has been a long time since I have done this technique and I must admit, it is a technique that challenges me than I would like. ;-) I used one of my favorite stamp sets, Treasure Life. Even though it is retired, I still love to pull it out and create with it. I used my brayer to ink the white daisy cardstock with Honey ink. I then punched a 1 and 1/2" circle and placed it over the Honey background. I then used the brayer to apply Goldrush ink over the entire background page. When I removed the circle, I had a nice fall sunset to stamp my flowers and sentiment in cocoa. I then added cocoa and white daisy cardstock to complete the card. When I look at the card I see a fall sunset, my son said it looked like summer to him, and my husband said it makes him think of the Lion King. (I think I might skip asking his opinion next time. Lol!)

Shades of Blue

I created this card for the sketch challenge at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. The sketch is below. We would love to have you play along with us this week! I used the shades of blue cardstock to create a fading effect for the background. I added a few clouds and a fun kite to create a sky and stamped the sentiment directly on the bottom strip of cardstock. I am also entering this card for the in the Ombre Challenge over at the Heart 2 Heart blog.

Dakota Card

I created this card for the sketch challenge at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. The sketch is below. We would love to have you play along with us this week! I used the Dakota paper to create this fun card! I love the star that came on the Dakota WOTG stamp set. I folded it at each point and added a double layer of pop dots to the center to give it some extra dimension. I used the Art Philosphy Cricut cartridge to cut out the star and the sentiment square.
