Masculine Birthday Card

Since I live in a house with 5 guys and just 2 of us girls, it seems like I never have enough birthday cards for guys. So when I saw the sketch this week from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, I decided to try to make a masculine birthday card. This task proved to be challenging, since I tend to buy more "girlie" paper. I went with more neutral tones and I figured trees and wood grain were masculine. The sketch is below. We would love to have you join us!

Shining Moments

I absolutely love the Christmas Season and everything about it. We have always taken the kiddos to see Santa and get pictures taken, and this year was no exception. We actually saw and took pictures with four Santas, but these pics and this Santa were my favorites. He was so sweet and patient with the kiddos and the photographer was AMAZING and took several fabulous pictures while Kendall and Santa chatted. I wanted to do a layout of these pictures and the sketch for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge was exactly what I had in mind. The sketch is below and we would love to have you join us this week! I also love the colors int he Sparkle and Shine paper and it worked perfectly for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge this week. Now to go make sure Santa got everything on her wish list. Merry Christmas Everyone!

Bundle of Joy

It seems like we have baby fever at work right now. We have several of our staff members that have or will soon become parents and grandparents to sweet little Bundles of Joy! I absolutely love baby showers and lately we have had several. So with all of these showers, I have ran out of baby cards. Well tonight, I made this card using the sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week. I love how it turned out and can't wait to give it along with the baby calendar I made at the shower tomorrow for one of our 4th grade teachers.

Flip Flaps

Welcome to the Stampers with an Attitude Blog Hop!  The blogger in front of me is Barbi Kelley.   The Stampers with an Attitude are excited to show how the Stampers With an Attitude use Flip Flaps in their artwork , so here we go.

I always take way to many pictures of the kids and then can never decide which pictures to put on a layout. Usually, I have enough pictures of each event to do at least a dozen layouts. I hate to leave out the important ones, but who really needs 12 layouts of the same birthday party. Anyway, now that Close To My Heart has come up with Flip Flaps in all different sizes, it is so easy to add all of those extra pictures onto one layout. That is exactly what I have done today. I created a two-page layout using the Proplayer paper to use for a rock climbing birthday party my boys had a few years ago. I had 256 pictures of the party, but I managed to narrow that down to only 32 pictures on this layout. That is right, 32 pictures on one layout! How awesome is that?!?! I used the 4"x6" flip flaps and the 3"x3" and 4"x4" flip flaps from the small assortment. I added a total of 12 flip flaps to the layout. I love the fact that there are so many pictures on the page, but it doesn't look crowded or overdone. The magic of Flip Flaps!!

'Tis the Season!

I absolutely love Christmas and everything about it, from the tree to the presents, making my cards, the food, and of course, most importantly celebrating the birth of Christ. I have always loved Christmas even as a child, but once we had the boys, it took on a whole new meaning to me. Celebrating with our children and enjoying our family traditions with them reminds me just how very blessed we are. So, when I saw the sketch challenge for this week at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge , I immediately thought Christmas card. The sketch as below. We would love to have you join us. I like the new CTMH Sparkle and Shine paper and I am really enjoying using the washi tape that matches.

Warm Winter Wishes

It is getting to be the time of year when the weather gets cold and we all start to bundle up. This last week get was unseasonably cool here in South Texas with temperatures dipping down to freezing in our area. As I pull out my winter coat and put my flip flops away for a few months, I remember being young and enjoying the cold weather and the snow it would hopefully bring to our home in Oklahoma. We don't see snow very often down here, but I still remembering how much we enjoyed sliding down the hill at the park. I made this card for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week and for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge, Seeing Double. Although I don't get to see real snow often, I'm glad I can use these sparkly Cricut cut snowflakes on my project. I need to find a picture of my sister and I going down the hill to send to her along with the card.

An Attitude of Gratitude

Welcome to the Stampers with an Attitude Blog Hop!  The blogger in front of me is Pamela O'Connor.   The Stampers with an Attitude are excited to show you our Gratitude with an Attitude artwork , so here we go.

This past year, I was challenged by my supervisor at school to pick a word to define my school year. The word I choose was Positive because I felt that I needed to work on getting back to my more positive upbeat self. I really wasn't sure if having a word would make much difference, but it has certainly helped me to focus on the positive things in my school life. When I saw the title of our blog hop, I thought that Gratitude would be a great word for me to embrace in 2014 at home and at work. I wanted to make a Gratitude journal that I could write in each night and list at least one thing I was grateful for on that day. I am learning that in many things in life, it truly is mind over matter. Having the right mind set may not solve every problem, but it is a great way to start!

So I started with a  5x7 card base using the frosted paper pack and added several layers. I love the stamp set Always Grateful. One of my favorite sayings is featured on that set, "Gratitude Turns What We Have Into Enough." I added a set of stamped trees with some snowflakes in the background to create a soft, whimsical look. What project would be complete without some bling, so I added several silver glitter gems. I took the finished card and slid it into the front cover of the My Creations Journal. For the finishing touch, I tied ribbon on the spirals on the side. Now to get started writing down all of the things for which I am grateful!

The next blogger on the hop is Melinda Everitt.

I am also using this project for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge for this week. This project also works wonderfully for the Heart 2 Heart Blog Gratitude Challenge. For more detailed information on the making of this project, check out my post on the KellyCraft blog

Hello Kitty Birthday

Our beautiful daughter will turn 7 years old this week. It is hard to imagine that this amazing bundle of joy has been in our lives for almost seven years already. Right now, she is into all things Hello Kitty! She absolutely loves it. So, needless to say, we are having a Hello Kitty birthday party. I have had the cartridge out on the craft table for a couple of weeks creating invitations, decorations, and birthday cards. Here are a couple of cards I created. I am also entering the birthday card in the Shape It Up challenge on the Heart 2 Heart blog.

Fancy Schmancy Card

For the Little Black Dress challenge on the Heart 2 Heart blog, I decided to do a fancy schmancy card. I just love that word. It sounds like a Fancy Nancy word, which might mean that I spend too much time hanging out with 6 year old girls, lol! Anyway, I decided to really bling it up this time and create a very embellished card with Black, White, and a splash of Lagoon. I love the For Always textiles. They are so easy to work with and create a box pleat. This was such a fun card to create!

Frosted Card

I am seriously in love with the Frosted paper pack! It has been out on my scrap table for the last few weeks and every time I start to create something, I reach for this paper. It is so versatile and easy to use. I love the paper flowers that we can cut with the Art Philosophy and Artiste cartridges and the quilling tool makes putting them together super easy. So, here is another card using the Frosted paper pack for this weeks challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. The sketch is below. Buzz and Bumble Layout

One of my projects for Spring Break was to create a layout using the Buzz and Bumble paper for our club meeting in April. I had heard some say they felt the paper was very neutral and lacked color so I added a little more color with the Sweet Leaf, Creme Brulee, and Sunset. I love Hexagons and Honeycombs! They are definitely two of my favorite elements for scrapbooking and I love the way the worked together to create this layout!

Artbooking with an Attitude!

Welcome to the Stampers with an Attitude Blog Hop!  The blogger in front of me is Jen Patrick. The Stampers with an Attitude are excited to show you some Artwork with an Attitude using our incredibly awesome new Close to My Heart exclusive Cricut Artbooking Collection, so here we go.

I am loving the new Huntington paper pack and when I saw this cute tree overlay on the Artbooking Cartridge, I knew they would be perfect together. I modified the first page layout a little and used a design out of the Reflections book so I could feature a few more pictures (now to find those pictures, lol). I also used the Kraft paper as my base pages and stamped the Poster Tidings SOTM using sponge daubers to apply several fall colors of ink. This will also be my club layout for October and I am entering it in the Heart 2 Heart Brown Paper Packages challenge. I really love how quick and easy it is to use the Artbooking cartridge to create a layout!

Seasons Change

As school began this last week, the temperatures also began to cool down just a little and the football season started which means fall is in the air. Autumn is one of my favorite times of year. After a long hot summer, the cooler weather is a welcome relief. Of course being from Texas, Friday night lights is a big part of our fall. We love to go see the band march and watch the football game. When I first looked at the sketch this week for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, I immediately thought about doing leaves down the side of the card. Then when I checked out the challenge for Heart 2 Heart this week and it was a color challenge that would be great for fall leaves, I know it was the perfect choice. I used the rock and roll method to add several different colors to each leaf to give them the colors of Autumn. I love the way this method worked for the sentiment also. I was a little surprised at how the Cashmere ink looked green when mixed with the other colors, a nice added bonus for my leaves. I am loving the new Huntington paper pack and hope to have some time over the next week to create a layout for some of our fall pictures this year.

My Love for Hexagons!

When I first saw this sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Challenge this week, I knew exactly what I wanted to create. For about the last year, I have been in love with using Hexagons on my paper crafting projects. I am not sure why I am so drawn to them, but I just love the look! When I saw the Autumn/Winter catalog, the item I was most excited about was the Irresistible Hexagon Dimensional Elements. So many of my favorite things all put together, hexagons, irresistible, and dimensional elements. It was the first item I ordered and I have already ordered 3 sets so far. So for this card I decided to choose bright colors and I used my cuttlebug to add the honeycomb pattern on to the Lagoon cardstock base. I used the sentiment, Cheer Up because the colors and hexagons make me happy, happy, happy! We would love to have you come join us this week!

Surf's Up Card

It's hard to believe that we will be headed back to school in just a couple of weeks. I will have a new teaching buddy this year! I am excited to welcome her to our team and created this fun card to give to her this week when we meet and start planning. This is her first teaching job, so I decided to go with the Hooray for You sentiment. Why is it always so hard for me to pick a sentiment? Anyway, I used the
sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge and created this card to celebrate her becoming a part of our team. We would love to have you play along with us!
