Thinking of You with CTMH Skylark

When I first saw the Spring/Summer 2014 Idea Book from Close To My Heart. I didn't really care for the Skylark paper. I'm nit sure why, I just didn't think it was my style. However, after seeing it in person and getting a chance to create with this paper pack, it has quickly become one of my favorite paper packs! It seems to be my go to paper pack whenever I need to create a project. I guess the colors just work for me. When I saw the sketch for this weeks challenge at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge, I immediately reached for the Skylark paper pack. Below is my creation and the sketch for this week. Red, White, & Blue!

Around our house, red, white, and blue are a constant color scheme. Our home is decorated with all things patriotic! We have always been a very patriotic family and are extremely proud to be part of this great nation. When our son told us he was going to be a Marine at the age of five, we were not surprised. We are incredibly proud of the wonderful young man he has become! We were able to visit him in Washington DC last summer where he is stationed at 8th and I, Marine Barracks. He is a ceremonial marcher and we really enjoyed getting to watch him march in the Friday night parade at the Barracks. These are a few pics of that night. I created this layout for the Heart 2 Heart challenge this month. I used the stitch guide to hand stitch the stars with Cranberry waxy flax. I also added the red shimmer trim for a little sparkle.
